The course was in poor condition generally. The grass was long on the tees needing a longer tee. The greens were patchy with signs of ant infestation in places. The greens needed cutting and there were clumps of grass on the greens. The holes were very poorly cut with rough edges. The bunkers had probably not been raked in weeks, and a lot of bunkers did not have rakes. It could be a really good course, but if we had booked into the Golf Hotel as part of a golf package we would have been very disappointed. This course needs better maintenance. "

This is a desert-style course and it's important to find the fairway. It's pretty flat and they have used the contours well to design an interesting course, with some water coming into play. They must have changed the order of the holes, because Garmin starts on the 4th (this was correct). Long walks between green and tee and time spent looking for balls when they go off into the desert grasses meant that it took longer to play than the length would indicate - 4.5 hours (4-ball pace as we were following some 4-balls). We have played the course many times and always enjoyed it even though it is only a 9 hole course.We go round twice to make up 18 holes and if you go round twice you have a chance to correct any mistakes made on the first circuit. There is development work being done on the complex of the three courses (Ruins, Lakes & Hills courses). The Lakes course and clubhouse is closed at the moment. A new service road is being constructed in the vicinity of the Hills clubhouse and the taxi dropped us off in an adjacent car park which is about 300yds from the clubhouse but by arrangement a buggy will pick you up. Because you have to access the Ruins from the Hills you start at the 4th Tee and acaddy man escorts you to the tee which is a fair drive from the Hills. " - Bob & Sue Garner

The organisation for tee times is terrible, we played the course twice in 4 days, and after a big mix up the first time, with players not wanting to arrange with the starters, we were pushed behind after having received the suggestion to split up as a couple because 6 players insisted on wanting to play as a three ball each. Todays without notice even at reception when checking in, we were moved from 1130 to 1138. We have full respect that not everyone’s has played golf for long, but to be teamed up with someone who started the game a very few months ago is simply not fair, normally there is some control as to whether players have a basic ability of the game, but having to wait for someone hitting 15 to 20 times on a single hole is not enticing. We feel extremely unhappy as this eventually hampers with one’s own game. Course is in very good condition and greens are at great speed which would be fun, but just having to wait as the other player is being mentored is just too much. The people were a very nice couple, but her ability should not take her to a course…." - tcswede

I have been playing on the North course many times during 10 years and I have never seen the greens in this very bad shape as they were today. Buggy paths needs renovation. Played Los Moriscos on June 14, 2021. Experienced the course as a beginner's course, but with quite a few water obstacles. The course is flat with relatively wide fairways, which means that no golf cart is needed. Although several of the holes are close to the sea, we lacked a sea view. The greens were of very good quality. On tees and fairways it was unfortunately quite long grass. The layout of some of the holes, e.g. holes 13 and 14, is quite exciting but as a whole the course felt a bit boring. The overall assessment will be approved (2,5), but we will probably not return, especially as the courses west of Nerja are much better managed and have a more fun layout." - Lars

Vi spelade oliv/pine vilket är två olika 9-hålare. Vi gick med vagn. Rekommenderar golfbil till pine vars bansträckning upplevs gå kors och tvärs och upp och ned med promenader mellan hålen som några i sällskapet ledsnade på. Allt fungerade klockrent på stället trots, eller på grund av, Corona. Nästan öde på banan. Restaurangen led nog av situationen och maten var rätt och slätt usel. They have changed from this year the format of the tees. Instead of having White Yellow Blue end Red Tees as most of the golf courses they have numbers, 63, 59, 54 and 48. Consequently, if last year I was starting from yellow, corresponding to 59 in the new format, this year they told me that with my hcp ( 17 same as last year!) I had to start from 54, corresponding to blue tees last year. Some of the holes with this new format became much shorter and i think this was done to increase the number of games during the day.Bit disappointing but still a great course." - mauriziogolf

Relatively short, flat and not long between the holes. Tees and fairways in not so good conditions but greens very good. We started 13.50 and barely made it before dark. The negative side was that there where too many people practicing on the course. Close to 4.30 for 18 holes is to slow with regards to the course layout."

Guadalmina North is a fun little course. Best par 3 is in a roundabout on the A7 main road. You are almost litteraly playing in the middle of the traffic......But the hole is nice and fun. The almost unplayable hole 13 has had a lot of trees removed and is now a better golfhole. As most courses on the Costa, the place is overpriced compared to what they deliver....But what the heck.....We come for the sun :-)" - Flandry

Long and testing with a lot of rough ground only just off of the fairways, unfairly penalising what would on other courses be a reasonable tee shot. Lots of bunkers protecting greens that were receptive to the ball and very quick. Biggest problem was slow play - 5.5 hours for our round with no course marshalls to speed things up. Buggies are recommended due to the extensive walks between green and tee."

In great condition and the staff great. Holes were varied ad interesting and the fairways were in great condition. Greens were very fast with underlations and quite difficult but in great condition. Generally the fairways are quite open apart from 2 or three but overall a good course. One of the holes give a great view along the coast to Gibraltar. Buggies had sat/nav system and scoring facility which guided your way and buggy paths were good. Staff Friendly and efficient. Excellent fairways with forgiving cambers but greens a bit soft and bobbly. Hilly course so buggy essential. Some of the bunkers needed a bit more sand.Overall some challenging holes, nice atmosphere and vistas so we were happy to have played this course and feel it represents good value compared to some neighbouring courses"

The course is quite an open course....and great for any reasonable or high handicap golfer, There are quite a few holes with banks to the side of the fairways that are very forgiving as the balls roll down onto the fairways (in most cases!) Buggy paths are good and you could walk this course if you proffer. The green are well kept & in good condition and there are a couple of interesting par three's. and 1 short par 4 that could really be a long par three. Club house is good and there is a great little outside cafe stop at the buggy pick up that's good for coffee and bite before you go or to take on your way. Most fairways are open but with turns in them (left or right) and are in good condition. Good value for money. Regards Grant" - Grant Smith

Was late getting to the course as directions close to course we’re very poor we had left with plenty of time When we arrived in car park no sign to clubhouse clearly visible We were advised by other golfers to get in a buggy and drive it up to reception How would we have know to do that. When we got to the start the gentlemen in charge advised us we were just on time but wasn’t pleasant We then were advised that we would be playing with anothher couple Didn’t even get a moment until we had to tee off The whole experience was very rushed and not at all relaxing The course was also quite wet and had been overwatered We hadn’t expected it to be so wer as the ball was plugging in some locations" - David clarke
