If this course was anywhere else in the world, I would have graded it as poor. But because it was in Lanzarote, built on lava rock, with very limited rainfall and harsh winds and storms and the golf course managed to develop greens they had… wow. What an accomplishment. The staff were excellent. They were very accommodating to our needs. The grounds keepers were working hard every day. Yes the winds were very strong. The course was in poor condition generally. The grass was long on the tees needing a longer tee. The greens were patchy with signs of ant infestation in places. The greens needed cutting and there were clumps of grass on the greens. The holes were very poorly cut with rough edges. The bunkers had probably not been raked in weeks, and a lot of bunkers did not have rakes. It could be a really good course, but if we had booked into the Golf Hotel as part of a golf package we would have been very disappointed. This course needs better maintenance. "

This is a desert-style course and it's important to find the fairway. It's pretty flat and they have used the contours well to design an interesting course, with some water coming into play. They must have changed the order of the holes, because Garmin starts on the 4th (this was correct). Long walks between green and tee and time spent looking for balls when they go off into the desert grasses meant that it took longer to play than the length would indicate - 4.5 hours (4-ball pace as we were following some 4-balls). Très beau golf sur la côte de la mer. On voit la mer depuis presque tous les trous. Le terrain est en très bon état. Les trous sont variés et avec des challenges. Si la note n'est pas "Excellent", c'est à cause de la difficulté pour rendre à ce golf. Il faut traverser la montagne sur des petits chemins très étroits avec beaucoup de virages dangereux. C'est difficile d'avoir le courage de reprendre cette route."

A very interesting and unique layout, nestling in the hills. The course is very hilly so buggies are almost a must. We played after some heavy rain and the course was wet and long so a big challenge. I would like to play it again under better conditions, and enjoy again some stunning holes and views. This was our least popular course on our recent trip to Valencia. The course has a great layout with some interesting holes but needs a lot more care and attention if it is to recover and retain its reputation. The greens were overly soft with much damage, the tees had been scarified but the tees had not been moved for several days so the actual teeing area was bald and uneven. The bunkers were inconsistent and badly maintained so few players seem to bother raking their footprints. Around the greens the approaches had not been consistently mowed, so varied between lush and bare. Service in the pro shop and bar was slow and off-hand. All in all it gave the impression that the owners were resting on their laurels and not maintaining the historical quality of what was a great course in the past. We will not be returning." - Ray

The course is in good condition. Access to the Hills Clubhouse from the adjacent road is restricted to buggies and pedestrians due to civil engineering roadworkings but a shuttle buggy is in operation from the nearby car park this is availed by ringing the clubhouse on your cell phone."

We have played the course many times and always enjoyed it even though it is only a 9 hole course.We go round twice to make up 18 holes and if you go round twice you have a chance to correct any mistakes made on the first circuit. There is development work being done on the complex of the three courses (Ruins, Lakes & Hills courses). The Lakes course and clubhouse is closed at the moment. A new service road is being constructed in the vicinity of the Hills clubhouse and the taxi dropped us off in an adjacent car park which is about 300yds from the clubhouse but by arrangement a buggy will pick you up. Because you have to access the Ruins from the Hills you start at the 4th Tee and acaddy man escorts you to the tee which is a fair drive from the Hills. " - Bob & Sue Garner

The organisation for tee times is terrible, we played the course twice in 4 days, and after a big mix up the first time, with players not wanting to arrange with the starters, we were pushed behind after having received the suggestion to split up as a couple because 6 players insisted on wanting to play as a three ball each. Todays without notice even at reception when checking in, we were moved from 1130 to 1138. We have full respect that not everyone’s has played golf for long, but to be teamed up with someone who started the game a very few months ago is simply not fair, normally there is some control as to whether players have a basic ability of the game, but having to wait for someone hitting 15 to 20 times on a single hole is not enticing. We feel extremely unhappy as this eventually hampers with one’s own game. Course is in very good condition and greens are at great speed which would be fun, but just having to wait as the other player is being mentored is just too much. The people were a very nice couple, but her ability should not take her to a course…." - tcswede

Customer service can be improved not customer friendly today. Overall the north course is well planned with a good layout. Fairwys and tees were fine today. I have been playing on the North course many times during 10 years and I have never seen the greens in this very bad shape as they were today. Buggy paths needs renovation. With the exemption of Minthis, which we habe not played yet, SV is the most challenging course in the Paphos area. Very good greens, which contain a single grass. The bunkers are well placed and mostly contain a good sand mix. Sometimes there is a bit too little sand which gives you a hard surface. Very friendly staff all around. I have played Lauro many times and I return often as they offer the full package. From the moment you arrive you will be greeted with smiling friendly faces and after your round the friendly staff will provide you with excellent food. The course wanders through olive groves and there is a similarity to many holes but I still find it interesting. Only minor criticism is the keep to the path rule with buggies. This can mean a quite extensive walk and today it was in the 30’s so lots of exercise even if you are not looking for it." - Ian from Epsom

No value for money, completely overpriced. Good maintenance but no friendly staff and unable to talk English. Very noisy, busy and greenkeepers who just don’t care. It was a disaster. We had to speed up but we finished 18 holes in 4 hours and 6 minutes. Very disrespectful towards us, just pay 220 euro and get the hell out of here I was a shame, never again. The signature holes was played with two greenkeepers raking the bunker at only 4 meters of distance. They could show more respect and wait and stand back" - Robert

Greens and surrounding areas looked good but were extremely slow. Fairways average and dry in places. The black volcanic gravel is not a free drop and damages clubs. Clubhouse was nice and food brilliant. Buggy paths were hard to follow and signage to next tees was poor."

No clubhouse house facilities as hotel was closed, fairways were barren in places with poor grass and weeds. Bunkers were full of stones and sand was crusty and in raked. The lady in the shop, Suzanne, was there excellent though."

A tough & testing course but one that was in great condition and fun to play. A lot of par 5 holes each in great condition and with its own testing layout. Would definitely play this one again. If you are brave and have a bag of spare balls ...then you could try playing of the 'gold' tee boxes...as these make the course a reals test even for a pro. " - Grant Smith

Have to say the course was not as good as I’ve known it. Tees poor, and greens slow with lots of brown ‘diseased’ looking areas. Bunkers were like concrete. Having played a few different courses in the last two weeks, this was definitely the poorest condition. Yellow tees massively well forward. Would I go back? Great course with sea view on several holes. Good condition, some blind holes, which keeps the round challenging. Ladies tee is not very shorter than the mens, so it is not easy to make a par, but overall a great course, we will definitely come back. Buggy with screen, showing the hole, distance and elapsed time (with your pace) was good too, only the break was not working properly sometimes. Pro Shop and Restaurants are not very fancy, but got all you need."

Fairways AND greens were well watered. No run on Fairways which on such a long course - is tough. Slow round for a two-ball. 5 hours. We were okay with that, but felt the marshals could have shoved some really slow four balls a bit, just to give them the hurry up. Very tidy course, no rakes still in the bunkers but no great shakes.
